How Do Small Sided Games Benefit Goalkeepers

Goalkeepers playing small sided game has a huge advantage. First of all the obvious is that those small sided games have less players are in smaller playing areas so there are a lot more opportunities for the goalkeepers to field a shot, distribute the ball, or play the ball with their feet as a field player. The action is always a lot more faster and the keepers are forced to scan field, recognize situations, make adjustments, react to situations and make saves in a much faster time frame. Some other coaching points include, getting better with their footwork, learning to position and move like a field player, knowing what it is like to be a field player, recognizing situational play and space. In today;s game a goalkeeper is a field player who can use their hands. Being able to play and think like a field player is a major advantage. J4K provides that environment
