Welcome Our Newest Staff Coach

Welcome Coach Samantha to the J4K of NoVA Family! Coach Samantha (Sam) is a former multi-sport varsity sport athlete at Osborn High School in Manassas, VA and an accomplished goalkeeper. A multi-time All-District, All-Region, and Washington Post All-Met honoree, she later played goalkeeper at Old Dominion University. With coaching experience ranging from 18 months to 18 years, she continues to compete in adult women’s and co-ed leagues and plays beach soccer goalkeeper for Coastal United. Sam is currently a teacher working with students with autism in grades 3 – 5. J4K of NoVA is thrilled to have Coach Sam join our training team! Help us extend a warm welcome to Coach Sam!

Summer Camp 2026 – The Next Level Experience 2

For the second year, Just 4 Keepers of NoVA is excited to be partnering with Evolve Goalkeeper Training, Chase Wickham Soccer Academy, and Evolution Performance Training to provide a “Next Level” week-long Goalkeeper camp in Matthews, NC July 20 -24th.  Come train with some of the best coaches in the South, and take your game to the next level. A part-time chance turned into a full-time passion

As a stand-out Sophomore mid-fielder in high school, Larry was called on as goalkeeper on a part-time basis for his team when they experienced a GK injury. It was at this point becoming a Goalkeeper took hold.

Playing more in goal for his school and joining a club team in upstate New York as their full-time keeper, he was hooked! Training hard and attending GK camps throughout the US, Larry quickly developed his skill. He was selected as a walk-on Freshman to his NCAA Division III LeMoyne College team, where he became the starting keeper that year, a position he held for 3 years.

Unfortunately, injuries late in his junior year in addition to participating in an educational internship in Washington, DC ended his collegiate playing career.

Although he took a short break from playing keeper when his two children were very young, Larry continued to play goalkeeper for a variety of adult amateur and semi-professional indoor and outdoor teams in NY, NJ and now in VA. The desire to coach and instill the fundamentals of the position took Larry to work with GKs in Northern VA beginning in mid-2000. Since then goalkeepers from over 20 local clubs have come to Larry’s program and he is currently the goalkeeper coach for the BAC Travel program, Manassas Soccer Club, and the GK Coach for the Gainesville High School Boys and Girls teams. Larry has over 20 years experience playing and coaching keepers for this unique and challenging position.

Larry partnered with international Goalkeeping Academy Just 4 Keepers in 2012 to help fill the void in available Goalkeeper training in the area. Many times the goalkeeper is not provided the time, attention or quality touches on the ball that their field player teammates receive in order to develop as a player.

The J4K program operates as a year-round group training system, utilizing the skills of all the participating goalkeepers to help each other develop. By meeting weekly, the J4K program reinforces the skills needed to be a successful GK. It is our belief that the GK position requires regular, consistent, and on-going training and is not a skill that can be learned and perfected in few sessions.

I have trained with Coach Larry for several years now and I have enjoyed every second of it. Larry’s sessions are very fun, but they also challenge you and show you where you need to work harder. While making saves in games, I notice my form is exactly how Larry trained me to do it. Working with Larry has made me a more confident goalkeeper and has helped me improve my skills each year. We had the privilege of connecting with Larry as a goalkeeper coach a few years ago when we signed up our son for a summer camp that Larry had. From day 1, our son came home energized not only what he had learned from Larry physically but also the importance of the mental aspect of the position. Our son has continued to train with Larry since that time through private and semi-private sessions. One of the most significant areas where Larry’s expertise has benefited our son is in his positioning in the goal. My 2010 keeper has been working with Coach Larry since she was 11. She is a high level keeper and always looks forward to coach Larry’s sessions as he always has a planned session that challenges her. Coach Dolph has been a huge factor in Natalia’s journey as a goalkeeper. Under his guidance, she has evolved from a recreational league player to the starting keeper on her travel team.
