The VA/NC Regional camp is in the books!! So happy to say the keepers that attended worked hard and had fun! The weather was mostly cooperative – with Friday seeing plenty of sun and heat. Ray introduced everyone to some “dodgey” jokes, but they were entertaining, to say the least. Keeper wars were the overwhelming favorite activity of the day.
We received quite a bit of rain overnight Friday into Saturday, and hats off to the Wilson Parks and Rec folks to allowing us back on the fields. Although a bit soggy, the sun did show itself some and after skill work in the morning and early afternoon, the keepers wanted back at the keeper wars….
With the forcast expecting certain rain and thundershowers, we the coaches made the decision to move indoors for the last training day. Surely the fields couldn’t hold more water and the forcast was certain…..ah, well, guess what….it didn’t rain AT ALL. The sun even came out. But, we were already set up inside thanks to the Wilson Parks and Rec Staff again. After doing some reaction work and high flying top corner work on the gymnastics mats, a handball tournament was battled.
All-in-all, it was a great few days! Ray was sad to move on to another camp, but was very happy to have met all of our campers. We look forward to next summer in putting on a better and bigger J4K camp!
